Hrln (hrar alpha) cell line

HRLN were generated by transfection of cervical cancer HeLa cells with the (RARE)3-TK-Luciferase-SV40-Neomycin plasmid. The plasmid (RARE)3-TK-Luc-SVNeo contains a luciferase gene driven by three retinoid receptor responsive element (RARE) in front of thymidine kinase promoter and a neomycin phosphotransferase gene under the control of SV40 promoter.

Interest / Relevance: These cells enable to measure the hRAR alpha activity (full and partial agonism, antagonism) of pharmaceuticals (breast cancer, menopause treatment), environmental compounds (alkylphenols, bisphenol A, phthalates or pesticides, cosmetics).
These cells enable to measure the hRAR alpha activity of environmental (water, sediments), human (blood, urine adipose tissue) or food (water, vegetables, meat) samples.
