Rat mesothelioma cell line M5-T2

Neoplastic rat cell line isolated from tumor masses (peritoneal mesothelioma) collected in the peritoneal cavity of a male rat (F344) after 387 days of induction with crocidolite (blue asbestos) injected intraperitoneously in 2008.
Classified as non-invasive (see publications / illustrations) below.
The complete proteomic analysis data of the biocollection of cell lines has been deposited on the PRIDE database website (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/pride), part of the ProteomeXchange Consortium, with the dataset identifier PXD060521.

Interest / Relevance: - Academic Research: identification of markers of neoplastic / transformed mesothelial cells, analyses of chromosomal damage induced by asbestos, studies of the mechanism of asbestos-induced oncogenesis.

- Industry research: antibody production, screening of new anticancer agents, identification of factors implicated in mesothelioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.

- Therapeutic: development of epigenetic drugs, design of cancer vaccines.
Keywords: mesothelioma cells, non-invasive, tumor marker, tumor invasion process, malignant transformation, proliferation rate
