Rat mesothelial cell line F5-2

Transformed rat mesothelial cell line isolated from the peritoneal fluid of a female rat (Fischer F344) after 412 days of induction with crocidolite (blue asbestos) injected intraperitoneously in 2008.
Classified as epithelioid, however, both morphology and marker levels correspond to an intermediary state (PNint subgroup) between epithelioid and sarcomatoid groups of cell lines.
With F1-2, these two cell lines differ from the eight other preneoplastic epithelioid cell lines (Sbnl and PNep subgroups) of the biocollection by their highest levels of fibronectin 1 (see graph on Fig. S1 in supplementary material of reference 2 below).
Initially named "F5-T2" (first passages), then renamed F5-2 as this cell line did not generate any tumor when injected i.p. to syngeneic rats.
The complete proteomic analysis data of the biocollection of cell lines has been deposited on the PRIDE database website (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/pride), part of the ProteomeXchange Consortium, with the dataset identifier PXD060521.
