Rat mesothelial cell line F2-4

Transformed rat mesothelial cell line isolated from the peritoneal fluid of a female rat (Fischer F344) after 347 days of induction with crocidolite (blue asbestos) injected intraperitoneously in 2008.

Belongs to the epithelioid group and "PNep" subgroup. With F2-0, F2-3, F3-1, and M3-1, shares in common intermediary levels of cadherin 1 compared with Sbnl and PNint subgroups (see Fig.4B of reference 1 below) and of fibronectin 1 (see Fig. S1 in supplementary material of reference 2 below).

Interest / Relevance: - Academic Research: identification of markers of neoplastic / transformed mesothelial cells, analyses of chromosomal damage induced by asbestos, studies of the mechanism of asbestos-induced oncogenesis, implication of fibrosis and inflammation.

- Industry research: antibody production, screening of new anticancer agents, identification of factors that increase mesothelial proliferation and migration.
