Optical fiber mode scrambler

The invention relates to a fiber optic mode scrambler component and method of making the same.
This scrambler converts a Gaussian intensity profile of a laser beam passing through an optical fiber into a top-hat profile at the distal end of the optical fiber.

This invention aims to provide an optical fiber mode scrambler device adapted to provide a significant mode scrambling of an optical fiber associated to it.

Applied for homogeneous illumination of fiber-optic textiles used for photodynamic therapy.
