METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR TREATING FIBROTIC INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASE

In the present invention, inventors study in fibrotic ILD/IPF mechanism, the role of
Arp2/3 multiprotein complex which regulates the branched polymerization of the actin
cytoskeleton, and may play key roles in mechanotranduction. Inventors demonstrated that the
expression of the Arp2/3 complex is increased in IPF lung mesenchymal cells and in mouse
lungs during fibrogenesis, and that the inhibition of Arp2/3 complex with the small molecule
CK666 blocks collagen expression in the lungs and prevents the development of bleomycin
induced lung fibrosis in mice. Accordingly the present invention relates to an inhibitor of
Arp2/3 complex activity or expression for use in a method for treating Fibrotic interstitial
lung diseases (ILD) such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in a subject in need thereof.
