Methods and compositions for treating skin afflictions

The present invention relates to a method for treating skin afflictions in a subject comprising a step of administering said subject with a therapeutically effective amount of small extracellular vesicles (sEV) comprising CD98hc. Inventors have demonstrated that healthy dermal fibroblasts produced and secreted EVs bearing characteristic of exosome-like small EVs (sEVs). They have shown that CD98hc was present at the surface of sEVs, transferred and stabilized at the plasma membrane of recipient cells. They observed that the transferred protein was functional both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, injection of sEVs in epidermal CD98hcKO mice exhibiting wound healing defect rescued wound closure in vivo. Thus, their findings reveal that CD98hc contained in EVs could potentially be used in vivo to treat and improve multiple skin afflictions by allowing protein rescue.
